28 March 2006 – New York (NY): PC shipments are expected to grow at more than 10 per cent annually at least through to 2008, although the delay in Microsoft’s Windows Vista operating system will affect PC sales this year, according to IDC.

The research group said shipments are likely to reach 229.4 million units in 2006, a 10.5 per cent increase over the 207.6 million units in 2005. For 2007, it estimates shipments of 254 million units, up 10.7 per cent from 2006 forecasts, and said figures for 2008 should rise a minimum of 10.5 per cent.

Microsoft’s Vita is currently expected in January 2007.
