IBM to make biggest acquisition in three years

10 August 2006 — Boston (MA): International Business Machine (IBM) has agreed to acquire Californian software maker, FileNet, for $1.6 billion or $35 per share, as sales decline in other divisions.

IBM’s all-cash acquisition would be the company’s biggest in three years and its third takeover in two weeks following the acquisitions of Massachusetts-based MRO Software for $740 million and Texas-based business software maker, Webify Solutions.
