HP to consolidate hundreds of sites

7 July 2006 – Palo Alto (CA): Hewlett-Packard (HP) has announced plans to close, shrink or combine offices worldwide in a bid to cut costs.

The world’s second-largest PC maker said it has not determined how much money it may save from the four-year effort to merge several hundred properties into fewer main locations.

It has also not yet identified all the sites to be closed.

The savings will be in addition to the $1.9 million that HP expects from cutting 15,300 jobs, or 10 per cent of its workforce.
