22 June 2006 — Palo Alto (CAL): Hewlett Packard (HP) has confirmed it is working with US retailers Walgreen and OfficeMax to resolve ink patent infringements it claims it discovered in stores of both companies.
HP claims inks found in refilling service stations of both chains infringe its patents. All three companies are understood to be working together for a resolution.
According to reports, the alleged patent infringements were found during an ongoing programme of worldwide testing and enforcement efforts.
The HP campaign has already uncovered infringements by other companies that offer generic ink supplies through refilling stations or private label brands.
