11 October 2004 – Palo Alto (CAL): Hewlett-Packard (HP) has appointed Robert Sherbin, former president of corporate communications at Gateway, as its new VP of corporate media relations.
Sherbin’s new role will help shape HP’s communications strategy and manage its relationship with the media.
Allison Johnson, SVP of corporate marketing at HP said: "Bob’s global experience provides him with a deep understanding of the range of issues affecting regional markets … he joins our team with an in-depth understanding of the media and an appreciation for establishing trusted relationships."
Sherbin has more than a decade’s experience in corporate communications with global companies including HSBC Group, First Pacific, Merrill Lynch Asia Pacific and Gateway.
He also possesses journalism experience from the early stages of his career, when he was a news reporter with the Dow Jones News Service and later the manager of its Nordic and Hong Kong bureaus.
