Hon gets “Nobel” for manufacturing

2 February 2005 – Richmond (VA): The Hon Company’s office furniture manufacturing facility in Richmond, Virginia, has been awarded the state’s Shingo prize for excellence in manufacturing.

The prize, which is widely regarded as the Nobel Prize of manufacturing, is the first state level of its kind in the US.

President of Hon Company, Dave Burdakin, credited the award to the dedication of the facility’s employees. He said: "Everyone here contributes to finding more effective processes that allow us to respond more quickly to our customer’s needs for office furniture that is smart, practical and professional."
