8 June 2005 – New York (NY): Office furniture maker Herman Miller is branching out into the acoustic technology market.

This month, the company will launch Babble, a desktop device designed to mask the voice of a person speaking on the telephone.

CEO Brian Walker said: "If you look at Herman Miller’s heritage, it’s been about creating what’s new. Rather than depending on a single line of business for growth, we believe we need to have a portfolio of investments allowing us to continue to grow faster than the core industry rate".
