Haworth reveals plans for Indian plant



14 June 2006 – Pune (IND): Haworth (India) Pvt Ltd, the wholly-owned subsidiary of Haworth Inc., has announced it is to make India its manufacturing hub for southeast Asia and the Middle East by 2010.


In an interview with the country’s Business Standard, managing director of Haworth India Kapil Agarwal said the company was embarking on a massive expansion programme to meet demand in both the Indian and international markets. He said: "India’s strategic location is ideal to make it the manufacturing hub for Southeast Asia and the Middle East. Moreover, the Indian market is expected to grow significantly."


The company is expected to record a 50 percent growth in its Indian sales. "We are expecting to record sales turnover of $30 million in 2006 in India, 50 per cent higher than last year’s sales of $20 million," added Agarwal.


Haworth India is understood to have a market share of 15 per cent within the country.
