Georgia-Pacific has announced plans to cut 850 North American and 250 European jobs, as part of an initiative aimed at improving its operational efficiencies and reducing costs. The move includes the idling of up to four tissue paper machines with 140,000 tonnes of combined capacity.
The company expects to take net charges of roughly $106 million as it implements its restructuring programme over the next two years.
