Gateway receives retail operations bid



23 August 2006 — Irvine (CA): Gateway’s board of directors has received a bid from Lan Shun Hui, owner of Joui International to buy the computer maker’s retail operations.


Hui’s bid is worth $1.21 per share based on his intention to purchase all of Gateway’s 372.2 million outstanding shares.


Gateway’s board are currently reviewing Hui’s offer.


Joui International is the former owner of eMachines, the brand under which Gateway now sells its PCs.
