5 April 2006 – Helsinki (FIN): The Finnish Competition Authority has asked three paper and packaging companies to respond to allegations of price collaboration and the exchanging of information in connection with the purchasing of timber in Finland.
The Finnish Competition Authority has alleged that Stora Enso, UPM and Metsälitto Osuuskunta engaged in illegal price collaboration to do with the procurement of raw wood in the country between 1997 and 2004.
UPM said that the investigations began after it contacted the authority in spring 2004. All three companies said they would provide a response by the due date of 15 May 2006.
