1 April 2005 – Birmingham (UK): Antalis is to take over Europa’s third party logistics contract from June 2005, Europa has announced.
Three of the Europa groups, Integra, Nemo and United, have finalised an agreement whereby Antalis will take up the existing warehouse business, leaving Europa to focus on purchasing.
Europa has already served notice to leave Wincanton, the current warehouse provider.
The group’s managing director Nick Oates said: "Europa has consistently strived to improve levels of service for our dealers and take cost out of the supply chain. I am firmly convinced that with Antalis managing the administration and operation of the warehouse and distribution business for the groups, dealers will see great levels of service."
The new agreement will require Europa to re-focus its core purchasing activity, which will inevitably lead to some redundancies, the group has announced. But no numbers have been confirmed at this stage.
The choice of a new 3PL provider has also led to an announcement from Advantia that it will leave Europa, by mutual consent, at the beginning of October.
Advantia’s CEO Bob Geens said: "We would like to thank the Europa team for all their hard work and support, especially the change over of the Advantia brand in 2003."
