Office Depot has released a report detailing the company’s environmental accomplishments, following its publication of the Environmental Paper Procurement Policy and Vision on Earth Day in April 2003.
The environmental report, which Depot claims is the first of its kind in the OP industry, looks into the power player’s environmental policies over the last year and its resulting achievements.
Chairman/CEO Neil Austrian said: "Our environmental strategy is value-based and market-driven. The independent audit of our environmental performance by PricewaterhouseCoopers supports this strategy by contributing to our stakeholders’ confidence in Office Depot and our commitment to environmental stewardship."
The company launched another new environmental initiative in late November, when it announced it would offer customers a free ream of recycled paper or money off their next purchase when they return ink and toner cartridges to stores in the US.
Since Depot launched its recycling programme in January 2002, more than 12 million ink and toner cartridges have been returned from retail customers, business customers and company employees worldwide.
