5 January 2005 – Delray Beach (FL): Office Depot has appointed Monica Luechtefeld as its first EVP of strategy and development.
Formerly EVP of global e-commerce, Luechtefeld has been directing online initiatives for Office Depot since 1994, when the company became the third largest multichannel retailer on the web after Amazon.com and Dell.com.
Luechtefeld will now be responsible for managing the strategic planning process to support the company’s long-term growth objectives. She will also continue to oversee Depot’s e-commerce activities.
Chairman and CEO Neil Austrian said: "Monica Luechtefeld is a proven leader whose long and distinguished career at Office Depot has included successful assignments in marketing, sales administration, general management and business development. I fully expect that her pioneering style and entrepreneurial spirit will continue to open up new frontiers for the company."
