Dell possible victim of market weakness – report

15 August 2005 – Round Rock (TX): Dell’s poor Q2 performance may be a symptom of weakness in the PC market, according to a report from Reuters.

Chris Whitmore, a Deutsche Bank analyst, said: "We believe lower guidance from Dell, Lexmark and Cisco this (quarter) indicates slower growth in PCs, pricing pressure in printers and slower revenue growth in the IT industry."

Hewlett-Packard is expected to post its Q2 results on Tuesday. Endpoint Technologies analyst Roger Kay told Reuters: "If HP comes out normal to better than average, then it’s not the market that’s the problem."
