Dell opens first global business centre outside US

23 January 2007 — Cyberjaya (MAL): Dell has opened its first global business centre outside the US.

Located in Cyberjaya, Malaysia, the 200,000 sq ft facility will provide 24 hour engineering and technology support to the company’s branches worldwide.

Dell CEO Kevin Rollins said: "Malaysia plays an integral part in our global initiative. We can think of no better partner than Malaysia to establish our first global business centre outside the US."

He also said that Malaysia was picked over countries such as China and India because of the country’s skilled work force, conducive business environment, robust infrastructure and the government’s commitment to the IT industry.

The centre will employ 600 people by the end of the year and 1,000 within five years.
