Dell accounting probe delays results

16 November 2006 — San Francisco (CA): Dell has delayed its quarterly earnings report amid a formal investigation into its accounting practices.

On the back of the US Securities and Exchange Commission intensifying its probe, Dell shares fell nearly 3 percent.

In a statement, Dell said the postponement is said to reflect "the level of complexity the company is facing in the preparation of its preliminary results".

The results are expected to be disclosed by the end of the month but the company will not hold a conference call for analysts.
