7 November 2006 — Basingstoke (UK): Computer 2000, the UK arm of Tech Data, has created a specialist team to place additional focus on retailers.
The team will work on developing good relationships with retailers who have recently entered the IT sector as well as large mail-order and high street chains.
Retail sales manager Doug McGeachie will lead to the 20 strong team. He has been with the company for over six years in various roles covering retail and small business.
McGeachie said: "We genuinely believe that we can help the less experienced retailers to be more competitive and bring customers in through the door."
Sales director John Doughty said: "Computer 2000 has a very good and solid customer base in retail, but we believe that, with the resources and services and vendor partnerships that we now have in place, we can offer much more to retailers of all descriptions, especially those players who are just coming into the market."
