11 April 2007 — Basingstoke (UK): Computer 2000, the UK arm of Tech Data, has named Darren Sainsbury as head of its audiovisual business unit.
Sainsbury has been with the company for 19 years and has helped to establish Computer 2000 as an important distributor in specific areas of focus. He previously served the firm as business manager for HP notebooks and the Sony VAIO range and was also responsible for establishing Computer 2000 as the leading distributor for these products in the UK.
Sainsbury’s appointment is part of the company’s strategy to establish itself as a leading distributor of choice in the sector within 12 months.
Sainsbury said: "While there is still a highly specialised sector of the market, most audiovisual products have now moved into the mainstream.
"There are opportunities for all resellers in this market and Computer 2000 is the best company for them to work with in audiovisual. We have the products they need, the focused resource to actively support sales and the backroom logistics engine to drive growth for the channel.
"While the audiovisual market is growing at a healthy pace, it could grow much faster if resellers were able to maximise efficiency and cost of product supply. It is important to make a healthy profit but also to drive growth and maximise potential and we believe that potential to be very significant indeed.
"We have the capabilities to meet the demand in all respects. We are putting more focused resources in place and giving resellers exactly what they need in order to drive sales growth in audiovisual. We can and we expect to be our reseller partners’ preferred choice for everything audiovisual now on."
The company has also said that it will continue to bring in new vendor partners – recent additions have included Ergotron, Vogel’s, and ATEC.
