Celebrating 450 years


4 January 2007 — London (UK): To mark the 450th anniversary of the granting of their Royal Charter, The Worshipful Company of Stationers and Newspaper Makers is holding the 2020 Vision Conference on Thursday 24 May 2007.

The event has been designed to address the business needs of executives, decision makers and investors in the office products, printing, packaging, publishing, packaging and media sectors.


An international panel of more than 40 speakers from organisations including Google and Microsoft will look at technological and economic developments in these industries and present a view of the state of affairs in the year 2020 in the plenary and break-out sessions.


The office products section will include speakers from Staples, Tesco, Office2 Office and Kingfield Heath. Subjects include office products retailing in 2020, the continued evolution of the global supplies market, the future for traditional stationery in tomorrow’s e-world and non-food merchandising in the supermarket of the future.


There are two keynote speakers. William Emmott, author of 20:20 Vision and former editor of The Economist, will talk about his vision of the global economy in 2020. Sir Howard Davies, director, LSE, will present a paper on the rise of India and China as economic super powers.


The keynote and plenary sessions will take place at Stationers’ Hall, in Ave Maria Lane, London EC4M 7DD. The break-out sessions will be at Stationers’ Hall and the nearby Apothecaries’ Hall. The conference will be followed by a candlelit dinner in Stationers’ Hall.
