Canon to build new plant in Japan


16 June 2005 – Tokyo (JPN): Canon has revealed that it plans to build a $733 million factory in south-western Japan. The investment is reported to be one of the largest in the company’s history.

Construction will begin at the Oita Prefecture plant during the first half of 2006.

The Japanese business paper, Nihon Keizai said that production in the cartridge and ink plant would start in January 2007 and put total investment at 80 billion Yen ($732.8 million).
