22 February 2005 – Curitiba (BRA): Brazilian Positivo Informatica was Brazil’s leading PC vendor in the Q4 of 2004, according to analyst group IDC, overtaking Q3’s market leader Dell.

The Brazilian company, which reported a turnover of BRL600 million ($233 million) in 2004, upped its market share thanks to heightened demand in both the domestic retail sector as well as the public sector.

But despite the company’s leading position, it retained just 4.3 per cent of the market, cornered by pirated PCs that still hold a stake of over 70 per cent.
