7 February 2005 – High Wycombe (UK): The BOSS Federation is backing a campaign by producer responsibility organisation Valpak to help businesses better prepare for the WEEE (waste electrical and electronic equipment) directive.
The directive comes into force later this year, but after August 2005, non-compliance will be a criminal offence.
BOSS, an associate member of Valpak’s new pre-compliance scheme, will help its members by relaying back information on the directive’s obligations.
Keith Davies, CEO of BOSS, said: "There are many uncertainties surrounding WEEE, including scope, implementation and cost. We feel that Valpak’s pre-compliance service will be able to answer our questions and represent us effectively at government level."
