BOSS celebrates 100 years

6 January 2005 – High Wycombe (UK): The BOSS Federation will celebrate its centenary this year with a number of commemorative events and activities, it has said.

The federation started out as the Stationers’ Proprietary Articles Trade Association (SPATA), which had their first meeting in Stationers’ Hall, London, in May 1905.

Rather appropriately, Stationer’s Hall will host the federation’s gala dinner on 15 September. Ticket details are to be announced shortly.

The anniversary will be also marked by the publication of The industry Champion, the evolution of the BOSS Federation, a complementary booklet that will celebrate the past as well as predict the future – with the help of a number of industry leaders.

BOSS chairman Rick Needle said: "The need for an organisation that represents the whole office products community and tackles the burning issues of the day is as necessary now as it was when SPATA set out to tackle the pricing problems prevailing in 1905."
