19 July 2007 — Clichy (FRA): Bic has reported its financial results for both Q2 and the first half of the year.
The manufacturer’s stationery net sales for Q2 fell to €208.6 million ($288.2 million), from €209.2 million a year earlier. Stationery net sales for the first half of the year also fell to €368.2 million, from €383.1 million in 2006.
CEO Mario Guevara said: "In Q2 2007 stationery realised modest growth, with sales increasing 3 percent at constant currencies, and 1.3 percent on a comparative basis. For the half year, our business is up 0.6 percent at constant currencies and up 1.4 percent on a comparative basis."
He continued: "We experienced a good Q2 in Europe and, in North America we managed to partially recover the shortfall of Q1. In Brazil, the integration of Pimaco progressed as expected. In Q2 we experienced delayed sales shipments versus last year. However, we remain confident that our Back-to-School sell-in will position us to achieve market share gains."
