Best Buy rethinks loyalty scheme



2 October 2006 — Minneapolis (MN): Best Buy has decided to drop the $9.99 fee it charges for its Reward Zone loyalty programme.


Under the scheme, customers collected points when they made purchases which could then be redeemed for merchandise.


Best Buy said it dropped the fee in response to customer feedback which implied that they wanted a free programme.


The company has added a new credit card scheme in its place.
