6 February 2007 — New Delhi (IND): Best Buy is said to be considering entry into the Indian market and holding talks with RPG Enterprises.
According to reports in India’s Economic Times, discussions were held between the two companies when Best Buy’s EVP Kal Patel, was in the country last week.
RPG reportedly told the publication that it had not received any firm proposal from the US consumer electronics company and that it was considering a possible joint venture with an Indian partner.
Best Buy has revealed an interest in expanding its international footprint. Commenting on the better-than-average success of its recently opened store in Shanghai, CEO Robert Willett said: "During the course of this year we will see the start of other ventures in other countries. We’re determined to become an international player."
