4 April 2006 – Minneapolis (MN): Best Buy has laid-off 300 workers at its corporate headquarters in Minneapolis.

The layoffs, which the electronic retailer said were part of cost cutting by eliminating "redundant and nonstrategic" jobs, amount to about 7 per cent of the total workforce at the Richfield HQ.

The workers concerned will be able to apply for jobs within the company and will be eligible for a severance package if they fail to find one.
