25 January 2007 — Shanghai (CHN): Best Buy’s newly opened Shanghai store has performed better than expected according to CEO Robert Willett.
He said: "The performance of the store has exceeded our expectations very, very significantly. When we look back in 12 month’s time, this store will be in the top ten inside of our organisation."
Willett also outlined plans to enter other new markets. He said: "During the course of this year we will see the start of other ventures in other countries. We’re determined to become an international player."
Japan will not be one of those countries selected for expansion in the short-term as the market is perceived to be too competitive at present.
