Wal-Mart and the Walton family have donated almost $1 million over the past year to the government of Arnold Schwarzenegger, a report in USA Today claims.
In early October, Schwarzenegger vetoed a bill that would have forced the state to disclose companies where workers get government health services meant for poor residents.
A second bill would have stopped employers from locking workers inside workplaces – which occurs when employees clean floors and stock shelves outside opening hours. Schwarzenegger’s office and a Walton family spokesman said there was no connection between the Wal-Mart gifts and the vetoes.
