Armstrong to leave Spicers

7 December 2005 – Sawston (UK): Spicers CEO Bill Armstrong has announced his early retirement after 33 years with the company.
 
Armstrong’s successor is Rob Vale, who will join the firm in January 2006 before taking over as CEO in mid-February. Vale was previously SVP of European operations at Office Depot. 
 
Speaking of his career at Spicers, Armstrong said: "Spicers has been a big part of my life for over 30 years. The business has changed completely over that period, from being a leading UK manufacturer to being Europe’s biggest OP wholesaler. I am pleased to have played a part in that transformation."
 
Vale said of his appointment: "I am both proud and delighted to be joining Spicers. Bill has done a fantastic job in taking the business to its present strong position, and I look forward to building on what has been achieved to the benefit of the reseller community."
