AOPD has appointed Tom Buxton, the founder and principle of Interbizgroup, to become its National Account Consultant.
Buxton will be responsible for working with the AOPD dealers in the development of regional and national account business. His responsibilities will include assisting AOPD dealers in the key areas of target lists, bid analysis, high level account presentations, and more importantly developing a systematic approach to training the AOPD dealers, as AOPD enhances its long running strategic approach to this market segment."Tom’s industry experience, along with AOPD’s Contracts and Pricing Consultant, Dealer Pricing Services, and our exclusive partnership with Ascellerate, provides AOPD dealers with very powerful resources," commented Bud Mundt, AOPD Executive Director. ACCO has named Tom Tedford as SVP of Corporate Marketing and Product Development.
Reporting directly to CEO Bob Keller, Tedford will lead global marketing and brand strategy initiatives, web strategy, and social responsibility programmes. In a wide ranging role, he will also be responsible for new product development and the management of the company’s current product portfolio.
Tedford has an extensive background in sales, marketing, business development and general management, as well as significant experience in the office products industry. Most recently, Tedford was Group VP for Client Services at APAC Customer Services – where Bob Keller was formerly CEO.
He also served sales and sales leadership positions in the Business Services Division of Office Depot and was Director of New Business Development and Strategy at the Sam’s Club division of Wal-Mart.

Leading IT products distributor Tech Data has announced a new executive leadership team for its US sales and marketing divisions.
Pete Peterson (above) has been named SVP, US Sales; SVP, US Marketing Joe Quaglia has assumed expanded responsibilities for all Tech Data US marketing operations and vendor partnerships; and Chuck Bartlett has been promoted to VP and General Manager, Advanced Infrastructure Solutions.
Peterson, who has been with Tech Data since 1996, takes over the post occupied by Murray Wright, who was named President, The Americas in April.

"Pete is a proven, forward-looking leader who will help our sales organisation further differentiate itself in the marketplace. FedEx Office has announced that Sprint Nextel exec Kim Dixon is to become the company’s COO.
Dixon will take up the post from 1 June and will lead and oversee the company’s global retail and print operations. She joins FedEx Office after a 14-year tenure with Sprint Nextel, where she most recently served as SVP of Consumer Sales and has extensive experience in retail operations, sales, and marketing.
As COO at FedEx Office she will lead a number of key divisions, including global retail operations and planning, retail and supply chain management, and real estate and development.

IT and imaging supplies distributor Digitek has promoted Tom Guagliardi to the post of President.
Guagliardi joined Digitek in 2008 as VP Business Development.
"Tom has shown his strong leadership abilities from the first day he arrived at Digitek. His tireless work ethic and dedication to winning make him the perfect choice to lead our sales and marketing organization," commented CEO Paul Martorana.
Guagliardi will be charged with overseeing all of Digitek’s sales, marketing and merchandising.
Office Depot’s former head of North American Retail, Chuck Rubin, is to become CEO of beauty products retailer Ulta.
Office Depot announced Rubin’s resignation in April, with Kevin Peters taking over as President of NAR.
Now it has been confirmed that Rubin left Depot to join Ulta as COO in May and, following a four-month transition period, will become CEO.
Ulta has almost 350 retail outlets in the US and has annual sales of around $1.2 billion.
Promotional products company Newton Manufacturing has taken on three industry veterans.
Dan Livengood and Robin Hand have both joined the Des Moines (IA) company as Senior Sales Manager for the western and eastern regions, respectively.
Their primary responsibilities include the management, retention and growth of Newton’s sales revenue, creating top-line growth of core programmes and creating innovative sales initiatives.
Between them they have 47 years’ experience in sales management and promotional products. The third new recruit is Sara Umbarger who has joined Newton as Customer Sales Consultant.
European EOS distributor Alpha International has named Niek von Reth as Marketing and E-Commerce Manager.
Von Reth joins Alpha from Xerox where he worked for over ten years, the last four of them for Xerox MEA in the UK as the E-Business and Profit Manager. At Alpha, von Reth will be responsible for all the marketing and e-business activities throughout Europe, with the aim of further developing and overseeing Alpha International’s strong growth.
"Niek’s appointment fits in perfectly with the growth scenario that Alpha International is going through," says Commercial Director Marc Nijhof. "Niek has a great deal of expertise and experience in this sector, as well as e-business, so that brings significant added value for us."
Former Spicers National Accounts Director Ewan Dowson is to shortly join rival wholesaler VOW as its Regional Director for Scotland.
Dowson – who joined Spicers in 2008 – will take up his new post on 7 June and will have full responsibility for the sales team in Scotland. He has over a decade of experience in office products sales having previously worked for Corporate Express, the Commercial Group and Irongate prior to joining Spicers.

French Paper merchant Antalis has made two appointments in its management team. Stéphane Courtot has been named General Manager for western Europe (France, Benelux, Spain and Portugal). Xavier Jouvet replaces him as Marketing and Purchasing Director. The 48-year-old has worked for Compaq, Cisco and Dell.
Back office systems provider BlueSky has announced that experienced office product IT solutions executive David Brown has joined to work on special projects for its Horizon system.
