Over 16,000 visitors to HK stationery show

The eighth edition of the Hong Kong International Stationery Fair, which took place from 7-10 January, attracted 16,464 visitors from 118 countries according to joint organisers Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and Messe Frankfurt.

The top ten visiting countries and regions were the Chinese mainland, Japan, USA, South Korea, Taiwan, Australia, Philippines, Thailand, UK and Singapore. There were also 36 buying missions representing 766 companies.

The show hosted a variety of stationery products such as environmentally friendly pens, paper bags, erasers, fashionable yet functional diaries, organisers, magnetic boards, artists’ equipment as well as office supplies.
"This fair is very well organised with a variety of exhibitors all under one roof," said first-time buyer to the fair, Carlos Osoria, distribution manager for Ronda, a stationery and toys distribution company in Colombia. "On stationery, we are looking for different items like plastic files and boxes. I expect to close some deals and to place orders with some of the suppliers after the exhibition."

Nguyen Thy Phuong of Vietnamese stationery importer and distributor Kim Hoan Vu said: "We already source from other places including Thailand, and are exclusive distributors in Vietnam for a number of Thai stationery products, but here in Hong Kong you can see products from all over Asia."

The next edition of the event will take place from 5-8 January 2009 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
