SP Richards has acquired leading US regional wholesaler O’Henry. The deal will close on 1 April. O’Henry has been operating for almost 55 years and with sales of around $30 million, it has a distribution network covering six states in the country. It is also a member of independent wholesaler group Advantage Marketing Wholesalers along with ActionEmco and PPI Wholesale Office Supplies. Greensboro (NC)

UK dealer OyezStraker has made its second acquisition in a matter of weeks with the addition of East Anglian office supplier Trendex. The company, which has an annual turnover of £3 million ($5.9 million), is based in the town of Bury St Edmunds. London (UK)

Spicers’ parent company DS Smith is buying M-real’s New Thames office paper mill for £60 million ($117 million). The mill will continue to produce office paper on M-real’s account until the end of 2008. After that, it will cease to produce paper and DS Smith will switch to production of raw material for corrugated board. Kemsley (UK)

US manufacturer of office and craft supplies Elmer’s has acquired UK children’s arts and crafts company James Galt. Cheshire-based James Galt was founded over 150 years ago and specialises in supplying toys and activities for children up to ten years of age. Columbus (OH)

Alternative Business Solutions (ABS), the provider of eTrading solutions for the OP industry, has been acquired by Fourth Hospitality, a software service provider to the hospitality industry. ABS will become part of a combined company and the deal paves the way for the planned floatation of Fourth in 2009. Witney (UK)

France-based distance-seller Manutan International has strengthened its position in the UK market with the acquisition of shelving and storage company Rapid Racking. Terms of the cash deal, which was finalised on 15 February, were not disclosed. Rapid Racking achieved revenues of over £18 million ($35 million) in its last financial year and employs around 100 people. Paris (FRA)
