Depot to sell solar power charging bags

7 November 2007 — Delray Beach (FL): Office Depot has become the first office retailer to supply Voltaic Solar Charging Messenger Bags and Backpacks.

The products feature three lightweight, waterproof solar panels that generate up to four watts of power – enough energy to charge nearly any handheld electronic device.

According to Depot: "By carrying a solar charging bag, business professionals, students and travellers now have the ability to charge their mobile devices with renewable power on-the-go and unplug from the electricity grid."

The bags and backpacks can be used with a variety of electronic devices, including Blackberry devices, MP3 players, digital cameras, PDAs and nearly all brands of mobile phones.

Barbara Pizzella, VP of merchandising, said: "By adding new environmentally-preferable office products with attributes beyond recycled content to our assortment, Office Depot is helping to redefine ‘green’ in the industry."
