1. What were your childhood ambitions? To become a well-known engineer and invent the first-ever flying car.
2. What was your first car? Renault.
3. How do you like to relax? Taking a walk by the side of the Bosphorus. Resting in a calm, peaceful café with a nice view is really enjoyable and makes me relax. I feel lucky to be able to do this, living in Istanbul.
4. Do you have an idol? My father is my idol. He was a successful businessman and he successfully balanced his professional life with his social life.
5. What was the first record you bought? It was one of The Beatles‘ records and I remember playing it virtually around the clock.
6. What is your ideal night out? Dining with my family and friends in a place with nice music and food.
7. If you could invite two famous people for dinner, who would they be, and why would you invite them? Leonardo Da Vinci and Architect Sinan have always been astonishing with their intelligence and creativity.
8. What makes you happy? Success and having my ideal night out like I mentioned before.
9. What makes you angry? Some people and some companies are still insensitive about nature. They seek their own interests while the future of the next generations is under threat.
10. What is your favourite food and drink? I can’t refuse a dinner with broiled fish and a good local wine. I also cannot say no to Kobe beef.
11. What is your favourite movie, and why? The Godfather is my favourite, with its amazing characters and intense story.
12. If you could be a superhero, what superpower would you choose to have and why? Time travel in order to be able to witness important historical events.
13. What is your favourite holiday destination? Blue Voyage on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea is terrific. You can experience the beauty of nature while relaxing both your body and mind.
14. What is your best piece of advice? Keep moving forward.
15. Which industry figure do you most admire? Mr Suhara from Uni Mitsubishi Pencil. He is a great person and a successful businessman.
16. If you weren’t doing your present job, what job would you be doing? I would still study chemical engineering, but focus on nanotechnology since today most of the answers lie within this subject.
17. If you could be God for the day, what miracle would you perform? I would definitely stop combat and wars at least for one day.
18. What has been the best moment in your career? I put in a great deal of time and effort in developing our sector association, TUKID. Accomplishing most of my plans, dreams and seeing positive outcomes has given me great pleasure.
19. What would you like to be doing in five years’ time? I would like to still be an active player in this sector and keep on being a part of the team that leads the way.
20. Describe the OP industry in three words. Challenging, dynamic and fun.
21. Describe yourself in three adjectives. Exciting to work with, trustworthy as a business partner and fun to spend time with.
22. If you won the lottery, what would be the first item you would buy? A ticket to space, but unfortunately I heard that the flights are booked until 2009!
23. If you could be invisible for a day, what would you do? Take the day off.
24. Which three items would you want if secluded on a desert island? Sunscreen, book and music.
25. What is your greatest strength? I love what I do – I’m both passionate and determined about it.
26. What has been your biggest achievement? Having a bright and happy son.
27. Have you ever read a book that changed your life? I think books about/by Jelaluddin Rumi have great meaning and significance. I feel the urge to mention this since we need compassion and humanity more and more every day.
28. If you could be any historical figure for a day, who would you be and why? I would like to be Galileo on the day he first observed space after building his telescope.
29. How would you like to be remembered? As the way I described myself earlier.
