1-to-1

Name: Heikki Vienola

Job Title: CEO

Company: Wulff Group Plc

Describe what you do in fewer than 20 words. I run office supplies company Wulff Group, which operates in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Estonia.

Your biggest achievement? Growing the company from my dad’s garage to a successful N100 million business listed on the Stock Exchange.

The industry figure you most admire? George Gerardos of Plaisio Computers. If the politicians in Greece ran the nation as George runs Plaisio, we would be borrowing money from Greece, not the other way around!

Your best piece of advice to a colleague? Know your customers better than your competitors do.

What would you like to be doing in five years’ time? Seeing our business in Russia flourish.

What do you think will be the biggest single issue affecting the OP industry over the next five years? Consolidation.

What business/management book would you recommend as essential reading? Jim Collins’ From Good To Great.

Your first car? A BMW 520 – a beautiful car.

The first record you bought? All My Loving by The Beatles. It was a gift.

Your ideal night out? Sport, sauna, Italian food – with good company.

If you could invite two famous people for dinner, who would they be and why? Silvio Berlusconi and David Beckham. It would be interesting to know their life secrets.

What sports teams do you support? Ice hockey is the number one sport in Finland and my team is HIFK.

Things you begrudge spending money on? Smoking. It is like burning your money.

If you had to sing at a karaoke next weekend, which song would you choose? Robbie Williams’ How Do You Rate The Morning Sun. It says in the song that "the morning brings a mystery, the evening makes it history", as it would be with my karaoke singing. I really am lousy at singing.

Any interesting hobbies? I collect cars. My ‘masterpiece’ is a Mercedes-Benz 450SEL 6.9.

Which character from a film or TV series do you think most resembles you? Well…someone once said Simon Templar from The Saint, but I really don’t know why. Maybe because The Saint was not so saintly?

Have you ever done anything dangerous or daring? In winter I enjoy riding snow scooters. It’s always dangerous but really fun!

Your favourite holiday destination? Las Vegas – it’s the entertainment capital of the world.
