All eyes in the office products industry once again turn to Germany where this year’s Paperworld is about to get underway.
The organiser of Paperworld, Messe Frankfurt, has spent the last 12 months ensuring that the industry’s mammoth annual tradeshow will impress once more.
With the theme Think Future! the huge event promises to encourage creativity from all corners, with the 2,500 or so exhibitors not the only ones presenting their latest new products and industry-wide trends in a future-orientated way.
Special promotions, information events and trend shows will run alongside the booths throughout the 14 hall floors, with a revamped Hall 3 billed as a specially-designed "modern city" for paper, office supplies and stationery.
Hall 6.1 will house the Paperworld Trend Show, announced as a "must-see" for all inspiration-hungry visitors. In the surroundings of the Paperworld Scriptum product segment, the trend worlds created by Dutch designer Gunnar Frank will offer some ideas when it comes to selecting trendy colours, design forms and materials.
The Berlin and Frankfurt-based bora.herke design studio will vividly stage the trends featuring some of the products at the show.
The "Creative Impulse" Prize for Innovation will see Hall 4.2 stage an awards ceremony honouring innovative work and commitment in the international creative sector. Established jointly by the German trade magazine HobbyArt and Messe Frankfurt, the awards will include Retail Entrepreneur of the Year and best Marketing Campaign and for the first time, the Creative Book of the Year and Complete Set of the Year. The award nominees will be on show in the hall throughout Paperworld.
Hall 6.2 will be crammed with ideas with the graphic designers’ forum Filu present the work of over 500 book illustrators, artists and photographers, while Hall 10.0 will spotlight products from Asian companies and include a specially-themed hall design and catering zone.
The inspiration continues in Hall 1.2 where the Centre of Excellence for Manufacturers of Original Products will celebrate the fruits of all the time and resources ploughed into innovation in the imaging industry. Epson, Hewlett-Packard and Lexmark will be flying the flag and co-exhibiting in a dedicated exhibition area.
For the first time, Paperworld 2007 will also provide the setting for the third FSC Global Paper Forum, which takes place on 23 and 24 January. FSC-certified companies, paper buyers, cellulose suppliers and representatives of environmental and social groups will attend with the aim of creating a bigger market for FSC paper.
All this and the added bonus of OPI‘s very own European Office Products Awards. The most coveted awards in the industry will be handed out on 25 January and, with all the superb networking that accompanies the event, it promises to be to once again be a highlight of the week!
