6 July 2007 — Aylesbury (UK): ACCO Brands has announced the opening of a new development centre near its European headquarters in Aylesbury, UK.
At the official opening, Paul Howells, European director of engineering, said: "This new facility is a perfect example of practicing what we preach. ACCO Brands has stated publicly that it is fully committed to a consumer driven perspective and a stream of innovative new products to support the results of that consumer connection. This new development centre is very much part of those two dynamics."
He added: "Our role is essentially threefold: we work very closely with our European product managers to harness and promote creative product thinking; we validate every step of the actual product development process after the word ‘go’ is given and finally, we assess product performance in the field post-launch."
Peter Munk, ACCO’s European president, said: "This new facility is almost unique in our industry. To have it here in Europe where, by virtue of the complexity of the market product development is inherently more risky, it is a real bonus both to us and our European distribution partners. I have no doubt it will contribute significantly to the success of our new product stream."
