A green future for OfficeMax New Zealand

30 July 2007 — Auckland (NZ): OfficeMax is to relocate its New Zealand operations to a purpose-built office and distribution centre in Auckland.

Within the next year, OfficeMax will centralise its 400 staff and operations currently based in St Lukes, Mount Wellington and East Tamaki to the Highbrook Business Park in Auckland.

According to Kevin Obern, OfficeMax’s New Zealand managing director, the new site will give the company room for expansion, while delivering operational efficiencies and improving communication.

The move also supports the company’s efforts in attaining the Enviromark Gold standard, certification of a business’s commitment to avoid environmental damage. The newly designed warehouse building will be fitted with skylights to reduce the need for artificial lighting.

One of the company’s existing buildings in Auckland already implements a programme that has reduced energy costs by 20 percent.
