3M sues over battery patents



8 March 2007 — Tokyo (JPN): 3M has filed suits against five electrical giants claiming they have infringed on lithium-ion battery patents.


Sony, Lenovo Group, Hitachi, CDW and Panasonic maker Matsushita Electric Industrial have all been named in the suits which focus on the companies importing or selling lithium-ion batteries or products equipped with lithium-ion batteries with cathode components that infringe 3M’s patent rights.
