3M sends $1.5 million to south-east Asia

5 January 2004 – St Paul (MN): 3M is to donate $1.5 million to relief efforts in the areas of south-east Asia devastated by the Tsunami, the company has announced.

The donation includes a $500,000 grant to match employee contributions to relief organisations American Red Cross, CARE and UNICEF.

The company will also give $1 million in products needed by aid groups, such as medical tapes, bandages, monitoring electrodes, surgical masks, respirators and packaging tape.

Alex Cirillo, staff VP of 3M community affairs and workforce diversity, said: "3M and its employees are committed to helping those affected by this terrible tragedy. We are monitoring the situation to explore what else we can do to alleviate suffering and to help rebuild the communities that have been devastated."
