Konica Minolta has announced that its BMMY MFP production site in Malaysia’s Melaka state has achieved its goal of procuring 100% of the electricity it uses from renewable sources.

This means that all Konica Minolta Group MFP factories in China and Malaysia are now 100% powered by renewable energy.

In March this year, BMMY installed a solar power generation system covering an area of over 17,000 sq m (170,000 sq ft) which has a generating capacity of 3.4 megawatts. This has enabled the company to procure an estimated 20% of its electricity requirements from solar power. In combination with the electricity included in an international renewable energy certificate, the location has attained 100% procurement of its electricity from renewable sources.

BBMY joins two Konica Minolta Business Technologies Chinese sites (in Dongguan and Wuxi), which had already reached their 100% renewable energy targets in 2019 and 2020 respectively. In addition to its MFP facilities, Konica Minolta said toner filling plants in France and the US and “many sales companies” in Europe have also attained their goals of using 100% renewable energy.

The print OEM plans to be net zero by 2050.
