Bill Meany officially became President of S.P. Richards (SPR) at the end of January 2023, when Central National Gottesman’s (CNG) acquisition of the of US wholesaler closed. The deal brought to an end the two-and-a-half-year ownership of SPR of industry veterans Yancey Jones Sr and Mike Maggio, who had steered the business through the COVID pandemic.
Meany has spent his entire career of more than 40 years at CNG subsidiary Lindenmeyr / Lindenmeyr Munroe, so has a clear understanding of the B2B distribution channel. His initial priorities at SPR have included stabilising supplier relationships to ensure a more stable flow of products and investing in inventory to give the wholesaler’s customers access to a broader range of items.
