Tech Data has launched “Tech-as-a-Service for Advanced Solutions,” a new utility-based billing program that allows customers and end users in the US to bundle data centre hardware, software and services into a consumption-based pricing model in which end users pay only according to the resources used. This program allows customers to have private, dedicated hardware either on premise or in a colocation and pay for it as if they were in the public cloud.
Specific benefits to channel partners of Tech Data’s TaaS-Advanced Solutions offering include:
- Flexibility: end users pay only for what they consume each month, with no minimum amount
- Treatment: program structure allows costs to be treated as operational expenditures (OPEX) versus capital expenditures (CAPEX)
- Monitoring: tools allow visibility into consumption as well as chargebacks to specific areas
