Award Categories

There will be eight awards presented at the NAOPA 2013.

There are five vendor categories and two dealer categories.

Dealer categories: OPEN TO NOMINATIONS. either nominate yourself, someone from you team or a customer or colleague. There is a very short nomination form to complete.

Categories in detail:

Professional of the Year                         
You are invited to nominate the brightest talent you have encountered in the industry.  This may be an employee from your organisation who has had a significant impact on growth, productivity and morale. Alternatively, you can nominate an exceptional executive working for a customer, supplier or partner. What we are looking for is an outstanding executive who has the potential to influence the future of the independent dealer channel.

Industry Achievement Award                    
This award seeks to recognise the achievement of a person who has made an outstanding contribution to the advancement of the office products industry over the course of their career in OP. This inspirational individual may have been instrumental in the success of an organisation, or has helped advance the dealer channel in North America through their dedication and commitment.

Best Product (in four categories)
We will be looking for the best products. It might be a new product or one that has delivered strong revenue for many years. We want to see excellent product development and value for customers.

There will be four categories for the products

1. Core office supplies
2. Furniture
3. Technology products
4. Cleaning & Breakroom supplies

The judges will be looking for:

• Product innovation, design and functionality
• How the product has improved upon previous designs/models
• The benefits for the reseller and the consumer
• The level of marketing support, innovation and initiatives in promoting the products to the end-user

Innovation of the Year
Nothing determines the success of any industry more than innovation. It is the lifeblood of our sector and without it we become commoditized. These awards seek to discover the truly innovative products and ensure they receive the recognition they deserve. “Innovations” can include products, technology solutions, significant enhancements or supply chain innovations.
The judges will be looking for:

  • Functionality
  • Design
  • Originality
  • Environmental attributes
  • Potential to generate revenue

People's Choice
Following the success of the first People's Choice Award launched in 2012 we will be running this award again. 

This will give all resellers the chance to vote from the short list for their choice for the product of the year. The online voting is available until 29th June and is open to all resellers. Additional voting opportunities will also be held at the Expo, during the ABC event in Orlando. The final winner will be chosen during a live vote on Saturday 29 June at a spectacular Gala dinner in Orlando, Florida.

Dealer Awards

As the North American Awards have grown in popularity we have added two dealer focused awards. These awards aim to reward the individuals that make a real difference in our sector. The people that go above and beyond to make the channel stronger and to make it a great place to work. Those people deserve to be rewarded and we are asking you to nominate the dealers that you think have made a real difference.



Additional Entry Information

The Entry process

  • The North American Office Products Awards are open to any companies or individuals headquartered in North America or with a physical presence in North America.
  • The manufacturing process, where appplicable, can take place elsewhere but the company must have a real presence in the USA.
  • You can enter as many categories as you wish.
  • You may enter the same category multiple times.
  • The deadline for entries is 22 March 2013 for the vendor awards and 19 May for the dealer awards
  • Please complete the online entry form by answering all the questions listed, providing as much relevant information as possible.
  • Only information provided on the entry form will be sent to the judges.
  • Entries are treated in the strictest confidence.
  • Judges will not be allowed to adjudicate in any category where they may have a conflict of interest.

Judging Process

  • The judges reserve the right to switch submissions between categories if they feel it is appropriate.
  • The judges may decide not to bestow an award in a particular category.
  • The judges' decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  • The shortlist will be announced by 30 May 2013.
  • Winners will be announced on 29 June 2013 at the Gala dinner on the last evening of the S.P. Richards' 2013 Advantage Business Conference (ABC) in Orlando.
