A distant third in the fight for OP supremacy in the US, OfficeMax is not only facing tough economic times in the retail segment, it's also battling with leadership issues in its contract sector - all at a time when chief rival Staples is set to get even bigger. Compared to all the turmoil surrounding Office Depot at the moment, OfficeMax's is a quiet story. It doesn't have the scandalous trimmings of the Office Depot saga, be that the recent - aborted - battle for board positions, the seemingly insane decision to drop the Viking brand or the controversial issues surrounding its various GSA contracts....
