ForestEthics and Dogwood Alliance have spent nearly a decade campaigning "to transform environmental practices" in the US-based office products industry. To coincide with Earth Month, OPI publishes their report card on the industry. The big boxes in the US found themselves in the unusual position of having to accept praise from a previously hostile NGO in March when ForestEthics and Dogwood Alliance paid for an advertisement in the USA Today. ForestEthics and Dogwood Alliance have pursued the big boxes in the US for eight years. It scored an early victory when it "persuaded" office supply giant Staples to announce one of the most ambitious environmental policies ever adopted by a publicly-owned US company. Now they are acknowledging that the OP industry - or at least some of it - has changed....
